Hiligaynon is the predominantly spoken language in the municipality, with the bulk of Isulan's population predominantly consisting of descendants of settlers who came from the Hiligaynon-speaking parts of the Visayas, namely the islands of Negros and Panay. The Maguindanao-speaking minority was formed by migrations from neighboring Maguindanao-speaking towns and provinces. Other languages spoken in the city are Cebuano, Ilocano, and Karay-a.
